Shipping Guide

Shipping Custom Sportswear From Pakistan To The USA, UK And Canada.

Air or sea, courier or freight, who pays the duty and which papers travel with the parcel: a plain guide for buyers receiving a custom sportswear order from Pakistan.

The short answer: custom sportswear usually leaves Pakistan by express courier (DHL or FedEx) door to door for samples and smaller orders, or by air or sea freight for larger ones. Production and transit are two separate clocks, and transit is only ever an estimate. As the importer of record, you pay customs duties and import taxes in your country unless a landed-cost quote that includes them was agreed in writing before shipping.

Production Time And Transit Time Are Two Separate Clocks

Most delivery disappointments come from treating a single date as if it covered everything. It does not. A custom order passes through sampling, bulk production and then shipping, and each stage has its own timing.

Production is the part a factory controls. For our own orders, a sample typically takes 8–10 days, and bulk typically takes about 18 working days after approvals (Monday to Friday, excluding Pakistani public holidays). Those are estimates, and we flag any delay as soon as we know about it. Our production timeline guide breaks the stages down.

Transit starts only once the order leaves the factory. It depends on the destination, the route, the carrier and customs processing, much of which nobody in the supply chain controls. That is why we never guarantee a shipping date we cannot confirm, and why you should be wary of any supplier who does. When you plan an event or launch, work backwards from your date: subtract transit, then production, then sampling, and add a margin.

Air Freight, Sea Freight Or Courier: Which Fits Your Order

There are three practical ways to move a sportswear order from Pakistan. Each trades speed against cost and suits different order sizes.

  • Express courier (DHL, FedEx). Door-to-door service with tracking, usually the simplest option for samples and small to mid-sized orders, and typically measured in days rather than weeks. The courier handles the journey and, often, the customs paperwork on arrival.
  • Air freight. Faster than sea and more expensive per unit. It suits smaller or urgent orders, such as a first order tied to a fixed date.
  • Sea freight. Slower (weeks rather than days), and cheaper per unit for larger runs. It suits reorders and big team or brand shipments where you have lead time.

The trade-off is straightforward: the more urgent and smaller the order, the more sense it makes to pay for speed; the larger and less urgent, the more sense it makes to wait. Ask for both options to be quoted so you compare like with like. Our guide to ordering custom team uniforms shows how to line shipping up with a season start.

Packing Per Roster Makes Delivery Easier

How an order is packed decides how easy it is to check and distribute when it arrives. For a team, club or school order, the useful approach is to pack against the roster or size breakdown you approved, so that what is in the box matches the list you hold.

  • Pieces are bagged individually, as in the photo above, so a carton can be counted and checked piece by piece.
  • Packing follows your roster or size breakdown, so you can count what you received against the list you gave us.
  • You can see the order packed before it leaves: pre-shipment photos and video appear on your private tracking page.

Check the packed order against your own list as soon as it arrives. If something is missing or damaged, the sooner you document it, the easier it is to resolve. Customs, Duties And Import Taxes: The Importer Of Record Pays

When goods cross a border, the destination country charges duties and taxes on them. The party legally responsible for declaring the goods and paying those charges is the importer of record. For most custom sportswear orders, that is you, the buyer, unless a landed-cost quote that includes those charges was agreed before shipping.

What you might be charged depends on your country, but typically includes some combination of:

  • Customs duty, based on the garment's tariff classification, its fiber content and its country of origin.
  • Import taxes, such as VAT in the UK or GST/HST in Canada, charged on arrival, or sales-type taxes in other places.
  • Brokerage, handling or clearance fees charged by the courier or customs broker for processing the entry.

Rates and thresholds change, and they differ between the USA, the UK and Canada, so check the current rules with your customs broker, your courier or your national customs authority before you order, not after the parcel arrives. Treat any rate you read online as a guide only until your broker confirms it. For commercial imports, some countries also expect the importer to hold a registration, such as an EORI number in the UK, so ask your broker what applies to you.

DDP, DAP And Landed-Cost Quotes Explained

Shipping terms (incoterms) describe who is responsible for what and when. Two come up most often with overseas apparel:

  • DAP (Delivered at Place). The seller arranges delivery to your named destination, but you handle import clearance and pay the duties and taxes on arrival.
  • DDP (Delivered Duty Paid). The seller arranges delivery and also takes care of import duties and taxes, so the price you agree is intended to be the final amount.

A landed-cost quote is the practical version of the same idea: a total that tries to include the goods, shipping, insurance, duties, taxes and fees so you know the cost to land the goods at your door. Because duties depend on classification, declared value and your country's rules, a landed-cost quote is only as reliable as the assumptions behind it. Whenever one is offered, ask exactly what it includes, what happens if the authorities assess more, and have the answer in writing.

Documents Typically Needed For Clearance

Clean paperwork keeps parcels moving. Your courier or broker will say exactly what applies to you, but a typical garment shipment travels with:

  • A commercial invoice showing what is in the shipment, its value and who is sending and receiving it.
  • A packing list showing cartons, quantities and sizes, so customs and you can match the contents.
  • A transport document, such as an air waybill or a bill of lading, issued by the carrier or forwarder.
  • Tariff codes (HS codes) for each type of garment, which determine the duty rate. Garments generally fall in chapters 61 (knitted) and 62 (woven).
  • Your importer details and any registration number your country requires.

Mismatched descriptions, values or addresses are the commonest reasons for a shipment being held. Make sure the delivery address, contact number and importer name you give are exactly right.

What To Check By Destination

The rules differ by country, and they change, so treat this as a checklist of questions for your broker, not as advice on rates. Our country pages for the USA, UK and Canada add local notes.

  • USA: duty is set by the garment's tariff classification and fiber content. Larger commercial shipments may need a formal customs entry, and sometimes a customs bond, so ask your broker what applies at your order value.
  • UK: expect import VAT and any duty. For commercial imports, check whether you need an EORI number.
  • Canada: GST/HST is charged on import, along with any duty. Couriers commonly add a brokerage fee for clearing the parcel.
  • Australia: GST typically applies to imported goods, and duty depends on the item and its value.

Whichever country you are in, give your courier or broker an exact delivery address, a working phone number and your importer details before the parcel ships, because those are what they will ask for first.

Tracking, Delivery And What To Do If Something Goes Wrong

Once an order ships you should receive a tracking number and a link to the carrier's tracking page. Use it. Watch for customs holds, which are often resolved quickly if you respond to the broker the same day.

If a parcel arrives visibly damaged or does not arrive, tell the supplier promptly with photos or the tracking reference. Our shipping policy asks for contact within 7 days of the expected delivery date, and the sooner you report, the easier it is for everyone to work with the carrier.

What This Looks Like At True Fit Sportswear

  • We ship worldwide, regularly to the USA, UK, Canada and Australia. We choose the courier and route, usually DHL or FedEx, and we send you the tracking number and a link to the courier's tracking page.
  • Our quotes are shipping-inclusive, and we ship from Sialkot. Air freight suits smaller or urgent orders and sea freight suits larger runs. We can discuss both for your order.
  • Orders are packed per piece against your roster or size breakdown. Your private order tracking page shows pre-shipment photos and the courier link once the order ships.
  • Production and shipping are separate. Production estimates are given in working days, and shipping and transit time is never guaranteed. We flag any delay as soon as we know about it.
  • Customs duties and import taxes are your responsibility as importer of record, unless we agreed a landed-cost quote with you. We can offer one on request. The balance on a bulk order is due before shipment; see payment options.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who pays customs duties and import taxes on sportswear shipped from Pakistan?

The importer of record, which is normally you as the buyer, is responsible for customs duties, import taxes and any brokerage fees charged by the destination country. The exception is when a landed-cost quote that includes those charges was agreed in writing before the order shipped.

Is air freight or sea freight better for a custom sportswear order?

It depends on the size of the order and how soon you need it. Air freight and express couriers are faster and cost more per unit, so they suit smaller or urgent orders. Sea freight is slower and cheaper per unit for larger runs. The right choice is the one that fits your delivery date and quantity, so share both when you ask for a quote.

How long does shipping from Pakistan take, and is it guaranteed?

Transit time is separate from production time and depends on the destination, the route and customs processing. Any estimate is only an estimate, and no carrier or factory can honestly guarantee it. Ask for the production dates and the shipping estimate separately and plan some margin around both.

Does True Fit Sportswear ship to the USA, UK and Canada?

Yes. We ship worldwide and regularly to the USA, UK, Canada and Australia. We choose the courier and route, usually DHL or FedEx, and send you the tracking number with a link to the courier's tracking page once the order ships.
